Minutes of the Parish Council meeting held on
Monday 3 September 2018 in the Clock Tower

Present at the meeting

Cllr. Mrs Woodman welcomed everyone to the meeting
1 Public Time
No public were present.
2 Police Time
The police were not present.
3 Apologies for Absence
There were apologies from Cllr S. Dinsdale.
4 Declaration of Interests
Cllr. Mrs Woodman declared an interest in items relating to the clerk.
5 Minutes of the Last Meeting & Matters arising
These were read, agreed and duly signed.
The clerk reported that we are still waiting for the results from Eon who have agreed to run a check of the electricity used for the period of the high usage.
6 LCC Report & NKDC Report
Cllr Mrs Sue Howe gave the NKDC report.
Tribute is being paid to former North Kesteven Leader, Mrs Marion Brighton, OBE who has passed away at the age of 88. She was a District Councillor for some 44-year's and led the Council for sixteen years, being Chairman twice.
Spires & Steeples Challenge returns to the District on 14th October, comprising of
a 26-mile run/walk from Lincoln Castle to Sleaford and passing sites and
landmarks of interest within North Kesteven.
The District's Deputy Chief Executive, Ms Karen Bradford, will be leaving her
position at the end of September to take up the role of Chief Executive, Gedling
Borough Council. Karen has been at NKDC since 2008 and DCEO for three years.
The Chairman of the District, Cllr Geoff Hazelwood, will be holding a 'Brains of
Kesteven' charity quiz on 25.01.19 in aid of Sleaford Dementia Support should you
wish to form a team to participate.
The Joint Revenue & Benefits Service has been shortlisted for three awards,
following recent on-site inspection of its operations and workforce.
Two projects promoting North Kesteven's aviation heritage have been awarded
money by the District Council. Bomber County Gateway Trust, £10,000 towards
its plans to build a replica Lancaster Bomber on a site alongside the A46, Norton
Disney and The Friends' of Metheringham Airfield, £5,000 to develop an aircraft
hanger to shelter a Dakota plane undercover.
Newfield Road, Sleaford continues its regeneration and footings are in place on
some new-build properties within the development.
Nine categories in the annual district Community Champions' Awards have been
shortlisted and will be announced at a presentation evening to be held at the
International Bomber Command Centre on 10th October.
Residents are encouraged to comment (until 21.09.18) on the District's Outdoor
Space Strategy (to be adopted by the end of the year), aimed at promoting open
space and outdoor leisure participation, improving health, well-being and
environmental sustainability.
Tickets are on sale for the Autumn season of events at the Terry O'Toole Theatre,
Nth Hykeham featuring Tom Thumb (October), The Andrew Wood Jazz Trio
plays Gershwin (November) and Dance Theatre (November). At Whisby Natural
World, Children's events and activities (under 4's), Adult Craft Workshops on 3rd
Thursday of month, 10.30-12.30pm.

8 CLOCK TOWER
The window in the back door has been shattered. We will look into having it
replaced with shatter proof glass.
Hugh Sure is to be contacted with regards collecting for the British
Legion with the Poppies.
9 HIGHWAYS
The Clerk is still waiting for Hill Holt Wood to quote for clearing the pond in
Haddington.
Potholes are present on Bridge Road, Butts Lane and Royal Oak Lane.
Storm drains on ROL need attention. The road gully on Main Street also needs
attention.
New street naming signs have been ordered for Royal Oak Lane.
The speed gun is required again, especially in Haddington.
Two streetlights are faulty on Bridge Road.
